A bond birth gave me,
A bond I chose for myself—
Two paths converging,
Yet demanding I divide.
Why must I choose?
Why surrender one love for the other?
Life does not see what I hold within:
Both are treasures, both are me.
My heart is torn,
Scattered in pieces at this crossroad.
Two ways stare back,
Each asking for my whole.
How do I weave them together?
How do I make them one?
Or am I fated, once more,
To let go in silence, as always before?
Is it a crime, then,
To stand for myself—finally,
To claim my right to belong
To both bonds, both truths, both loves?
